In Quechua, the ancestral language of the Andean region of South America, P’unchaw means “sunlight.” This project explored the historic capital of the Incan civilization, Cusco, through light and shadow, creating a visual testimony of how this unique glow defines the city.
P'unchaw is a reminder that the city and its inhabitants, although transitory, were illuminated by the radiance of the sun, whose movement through the still visible foundations of the palaces and temples of the Inca Sun is the most immutable revelation of the city.
